Abstract
The stability constants, K, of silver(I) complex with cryptand 222, studied in 18 aprotic binary mixed solvents A + B, are presented together with the standard potentials E0, of the couple Ag/Ag+. The experimentally evaluated stability constants and potentials have been correlated with the mixed solvents composition by applying a coordination model of ionic solvation. The correlation parameters obtained may be assigned to the overall formation constants of the solvato-complex, defined by the equation ▪ Taking a value of n = 4 for silver(I) solvation number, the correlation parameters βi were obtained from a curve fitting procedure, using the equation ▪ where QAB represents the long K or E°/59 mV values measured in the mixture, QA stands for the corresponding values measured in pure solvent A and xA and xB are mole fractions of the mixed solvent components A and B, respectively.
