Abstract
The standard electrokinetic model (SEM) is modified by considering hydrated ions as charged dielectric spheres so that in the modified model (MEM) the electrolyte solution becomes a non-homogeneous fluid with permittivity and viscosity values that are both functions of the local ionic concentrations.
