Abstract
Abstract In this paper we investigate solvent polarization effects on relaxation processes in a dissociating salt solution. It is found that the neglect of polarization may overestimate the mean square induced dipole moment per local solvent molecule by a factor of 4 to 10. This significantly distorts intermolecular interactions and thus the dynamic processes taking place in the solution. The results underline the importance of including polarization in a molecular solvent model when dealing with ionic species.
