Abstract

Electrical conductivity of nonmetallic aluminium, magnesium, calcium and lanthanum nitrides has been measured in nitrogen, ammonium and argon over the temperature range 973–1673 K. The nature of the conductivity has been investigated using the emf method in a cell with separate gas compartments, using controlled nitrogen partial pressure. It has been shown, that the investigated nitrides of the II and III groups of the Mendelleev's periodic table are mixed conductors, the ionic conductivity part of which varies on temperature and nitrogen partial pressure.
