Abstract

Li3.4V0.6Si0.4O4 (LVSO) ceramic electrolyte was synthesized using solid state reaction method by mixing Li4SiO4 and Li3VO4 in 40:60 molar ratio. LiBO2 glass was added to LVSO ceramic sample to study its effect on sintering temperature and ionic conductivity. It has been observed that with 1wt% glass addition the density of the ceramic increased and beyond 1wt% glass content it decreased. Further, the glass addition reduced the sintering temperature of the ceramic by 350°C and increased the ionic conductivity by more than two and half orders of magnitude. The ceramic sample with 1wt% LiBO2 glass, sintered at 700°C has the highest ionic conductivity of 6.13 × 10−5 Scm−1 at ambient temperature. This ceramic composition has a potential for being used as solid electrolyte for solid state battery.
