Abstract

Characterization of the ion trapping potential well depth, as a function of ion m/e ratio, has been effected by a study of ion withdrawal induced by extractive pulses applied to the end-cap electrodes. A comparison has been made of the relative efficiencies of three methods of ion withdrawal from the QUISTOR. A model has been developed from the movement of the calculated potential barrier during ion withdrawal. This model permits one to deduce the location of extractable ions in the QUISTOR.
