Abstract

Parametric excitation by a helicon pumping wave of the ion-sound plasma turbulence and subsequent absorption of ion-sound wave energy by electrons are shown to form a strong mechanism of helicon absorption. Level of ion-sound parametric turbulence, electron heating rate and effective collision frequency are determined and numerical estimates of these quantities are given.
