Abstract

The relative viscosities of NaCl, NaBr, NaI and NaClO4 have been measured at 30, 40 and 50 °C in water + sulpholane mixtures, in the water-rich region. The resulting Jones–Dole B coefficients and their dependence on temperature provide useful information as regards changes in water structure when small amount of organic cosolvent is added. The results are also discussed in terms of the transition-state treatment.
