Abstract

The main electroanalytical characteristics of film membrane ion-selective electrodes (ISEs) based on high-molecular-weight quaternary ammonium salts (QASs) are studied. These electrodes are reversible to a complex of thallium(III) with N,N′-dioctylethylenediamine-N,N′-disuccinic acid. It is found that the selectivity of the ISEs to the potential-determining ion depends on the structure of the QAS. A procedure for the synthesis of N,N′-dioctylethylenediamine-N,N′-disuccinic acid is described.
