Abstract
The microstructure of ion-plated copper layers on titanium was studied using scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffractometry for residual stress analysis. The influence of the processing gas and the deposition rate on the properties of the layers was examined. Finally, the usefulness of these layers for cold impact extrusion was demonstrated.
