Abstract

The adsorption of the proteins human plasma abumin and bovine pancreas ribonuclease on polystyrene latices is accompanied by coadsorption of small ions. In a previous paper this coadsorption was estimated on the basis of electrophoresis and proton titrations, using a model for the protein adsorbate. These estimations are now subjected to a direct test by measuring the incorporation of the radionuclides 22Na + and 133Ba 2+ and that of Mn 2+ by ESR. The predicted trends as a function of pH are confirmed.
