Abstract

A merging-beams technique is used to obtain absolute and relative cross sections for the ion pair production process Na+Cl to Na++Cl- in which the reactants and products are in the ground state. The relative kinetic energy of the reactants is varied from near threshold at 1.52 eV to 10 eV. The data are compared with the theoretical calculations of Faist and Levine (1976).
