Abstract

Equilibria on single ion-exchange resin beads show that large differences may exist between beads from the same batch. They may be so large that a significant contribution to deviations from ideality can be due to this heterogeneity effect. Correlation between swelling and equilibrium properties shows that bead-to-bead variations are due to differences in cross-linking.
