Abstract
The most common side effects of iodinated contrast media are hypersensitivity reactions and kidney failure. Aseptic sialadenitis or iodide mumps is a rare complication. Herein we report a case of “iodide mumps” that occurred in a patient without renal failure following administration of an iodinated contrast medium for a thoracic-abdominal scan. The outcome was favorable after 2 to 3 days. The pathogenesis of this side effect remains unclear but it consists of non-allergic reactions, making allergological exploration unnecessary, and subsequent use of contrast media is not contraindicated.
