Abstract

Differentiation of skeletal muscle stem cells to myofibers is a critical step for muscle maintenance and repair. Although potassium channels play pivotal roles in myogenic differentiation, the effect of potassium channel openers on myogenic differentiation is unclear. Our study examined the change of differentiation rate of muscle stem cells and mass of differentiated myotubes induced by DCEBIO, a small molecule opener of intermediate conductance Ca2+-activated K+ channel (IKCa channel) which abundantly expressed in skeletal muscle stem cells.
