Abstract

Sumanene is one of the pristine buckybowls, which possesses C3v symmetric fragment of C60. The most characteristic feature of its structure is that sumanene has three benzylic positions on its periphery, therefore, potentially 6 electron redox systems are considered from the corresponding trianions to trications. In this presentation, I demonstrate the generation of the trication or monocation species of aryl-substituted sumanene derivatives, and show some properties including the redox propertiy.
