Abstract

One of the greatest advantages of semiconductor nanomaterials is the ability to grow very dissimilar materials together or on a given substrate, due to the larger tolerance to lattice mismatching than thin film growth. This advantage can be explored for a wide array of applications such as full spectrum solar cells, full-color emission, and widely tunable lasing. In this talk, we will review the most recent progress in the growth and applications of semiconductor nanowires and nanosheets in producing extremely widely tunable lasing from a given substrate, or from a given nanostructure. Both material growth and device characterization will be discussed.
