Abstract

Recent single crystal X-ray diffraction studies of endohedral fullerenes will be reported. These studies are aimed at identifying the particular shape of carbon cage and the positioning of the metal ions inside. A case of external modification of an endohedral fullerene will be described where the cage plays an unusual role in determining the reactivity of the external appendage.
