Abstract
Oxide thin film transistors are emerging devices in high-speed, low- power active matrix displays. There are many other applications of this kind of device. The author analyzed these applications and categorized TFTs into three functions: as a control or readout unit for the attached device, as a switching device in circuits, and as a functional element itself in sensors. Examples on each function are shown and discussed. Future applications and challenges on oxide TFTs are presented.
