Abstract

I will discuss our recent progress on Li metal batteries using multilayer Garnet structures, including bilayer and trilayer frameworks. Results based on various cathode including S, oxygen and high voltage cathodes will be discussed. I will also discuss our results on garnet nanostructures including 3D printed garnet framework, garnet paper and garnet fabrics which function as ionic conductive frameworks to enable stable, high current cycling of thick Li metal anode. Flexible garnet nanofiber-polymer hybrid electrodes with a high tortuosity and excellent mechanical strength will also be discussed. In the end, I will discuss low-tortuosity Li metal anode guided by anisotropic wood-based carbon framework.
