Abstract
Formation and migration of point defects underlie nearly all materials for energy transformation, such as electrodes and solid electrolytes for lithium-ion batteries and solid oxide fuel cells. The distribution of point defects such as lithium and oxygen vacancies reflect electro-chemo-mechanical equilibria. In this talk, I will present a general theory framework for understanding how mechanical contribution plays a key role in determining the space-charge effect at interfaces.
