Abstract

In this issue of The Annals of Thoracic Surgery, Bilkhu and colleagues1 provide excellent outcomes of remodeling valve-sparing root replacement alone in 98 patients with a majority of connective tissue disorders, tricuspid valve, and no significant aortic insufficiency (AI). They demonstrate in this selected group of patients without annular dilatation (mean annulus preoperatively, 24.2 mm), that the annulus does not dilate significantly postoperatively (mean annulus postoperatively, 25.7 mm) at a mean follow-up of 7 years.
