Abstract

This paper surveys literature related to interactions among the macroeconomic forces that drive investment. It reviews the primary literature that develops the classical/neoclassical and Keynesian theories regarding investment and consumption, and further reviews the literature related to asset pricing, especially as it is related to consumption. Finally, it brings these three areas together and identifies both existing literature related to the three-way interaction and also suggests unexplored areas for future research.
