Abstract
Hypertension is a common risk factor for peripheral arterial disease (PAD), and the majority of patients with PAD are hypertensive. Recent consensus-based recommendations from the American Heart Association [1] indicate that the goal of antihypertensive therapy in patients with PAD should be to achieve a blood pressure (BP) less than 130/80 mm Hg. However, evidence from clinical trials for the optimal level of BP control in patients with PAD is lacking.
