Abstract

A photonic crystal fiber (PCF) with circular air holes in the cladding and a solid core is proposed. There is a design with air filling fraction (d/Λ) 0.45 proposed. According to calculation, low confinement loss and high birefringence obtained for a large range of wavelength for PCF of four rings of circular air holes in the cladding. The fiber achieved a minimum dispersion for a wide range of wavelength band. The PCF properties are reported by using the full vector finite element method (FEM). The proposed fiber obtained low confinement loss, minimum dispersion and high birefringence for different wavelength bands by careful investigation of air filling fractions.
