Abstract

Manufacturing processes of safety critical components for jet engines are frozen processes and cannot be modified in order to ensure certain standards. To simplify the certification an analysis of the influence of input parameters on the process outcome is necessary. Here, an analysis of the influence of the cemented carbide grade on the Surface Integrity (SI) of DA 718 is presented. Machining tests were conducted with tools of different cemented carbide grades. The results showed that the cemented carbide grade has no direct influence on the SI, but an indirect influence caused by the wear behavior of the tools.
