Abstract

AbstractAn investigation was carried out on the influence of certain chlorine‐containing compounds like p‐toluene sulfondichloroamide, sodium p‐toluenesulfonchloroamide, sodium benzenesulfonchloroamide, hexachloromelamine, hexachlorocyclohexane, cyanuric chloride, and p,p′‐dichlorodiphenyltrichloromethylmethane on butyl rubber and alkyl phenol‐formaldehyde‐resins. The probable mechanisms of the interaction between p‐toluenesulfondichloroamide and butyl rubber, and between p‐toluene‐sulfondichloroamide and alkyl phenol‐formaldehyde resins is discussed. Investigations were carried out regarding the properties of butyl rubber compounds studied so far, which play the part of an accelerator. The mechanical properties of vulcanizates with modified butyl rubber accelerators are better or similar to those of vulcanizates with poly(chloroprene‐rubber‐accelerator).
