Abstract
1. The final steps of CoA biosynthesis in rat liver were investigated using purified dephospho-CoA pyrophosphorylase [EC 2.7.7.3] and dephospho-CoA kinase [EC 2.7.1.24] and phospho pantothenoylcysteine decarboxylase [EC 4.1.1.36]. 2. It was concluded that the pathway involving the following metabolic conversions is the only operative one: phosphopantetheine→dephospho-CoA→CoA. 3. The possibilities of other reaction sequences were also examined and excluded.
