Abstract

The right determination of friction conditions at the tool-workpiece interface is a key aspect to take into account when simulating metal forming processes, and especially in incremental forming ones. In this work, the ring compression test is used in order to determine friction calibration maps for different metal alloys that are typically used in industrial practice of metal forming; the main results observed previously by other authors are confirmed, so it is concluded the necessity of using a friction calibration map for each material. Furthermore the differences and similarities in the behaviour observed are evaluated for all materials.
