Abstract

Abstract Si3N4 is used mostly as reinforcement for metal matrix composites. The substance is a very high energy barrier which will transform the state at high temperature only. Si3N4 is themost extensively used reinforcement material to develop composites with AA6063 as a matrix. The aluminium alloy matrix was produced with different weight percentage of silicon nitride content through stir casting methodology. SEM images from the SEM test on the particles demonstrate the homogeneous sharing of reinforcement particles in matrix. Effect of addition of reinforcement on the mechanical properties such as tensile, compressive, impact and flexural strength were studied. Improved mechanical properties from test report were achieved for the composites. The result discloses that, Size of reinforcement has the highest involvement to impact the strength of aluminium matrix
