Abstract

1. 1. β 2-glycoprotein-I, a human serum component has been also found in the rat. The concentration in a pool of rat serum was 27.5 mg/100ml. The molecular weight and the amino acid composition of rat β 2-G-I differs slightly from human β 2-G-I. 2. 2. β 2-G-I strongly binds to heparin and Intralipid ®. Affinity chromatography with heparin activated Sepharose 4B was used as a simple purification procedure. 3. 3. Similar to human serum, β 2-G-I in rats is also present in all serum lipoprotein density classes. 10.7% was found in VLDL. 3.2% in LDL, 19.6% in HDL and 66.5% in the d 1.21 g/ml bottom fraction.
