Abstract

A review from past few years, material analysis and development has been shifted towards composite materials, as a result of highest doable strength to weight and stiffness to weight ratios. several types of braking system varied materials are used for brakes like asbestos ,it is most often used brake pad material however because of cancer nature of asbestos fibers, use of asbestos fibers are reduced day by day. Recently a new trend is to use metal matrix composite brake pad materials that provides additional economical advantages and additionally preservation of surroundings. To develop brake pad material for the fulfilment of demand several factors are taken like stable coefficient of friction, lower wear rate at different operating speed, contact pressure etc. In the existing analysis work an effort has been taken to pick a suitable material that removes limitations occurred in brake pad application. the current investigation has been done to review the impact of various input process parameters specifically weight percentage of silicon carbide, Normal pressure and sliding speed on the tribological properties. These 3 parameter is being employed to fabricate totally different sample of AMMCs by metallurgy (P/M) technique. Also the attempt has been created to examine the wear rate of proposed as well existing specimen at room temperature. DOE is employed for optimisation of process parameters. L9 orthogonal array is employed to manufacture different specimen. whereas the effect of those input parameter on the output response are analyzed by analysis of variance.
