Abstract

Combined thermal analysis-mass spectrometry is suitable for examining the thermal behaviour of coal samples to establish the composition of their gaseous products. Experiments were carried out using constant instrumental settings for better data comparison. The temperature-dependent evolution of the devolatilization products in different gas atmospheres, e.g., high vacuum, is related to coal rank at temperatures up to 1800 K.
