Abstract

Nonnoble metal catalysts are discussed as an appropriate alternative to conventional noble metal compounds in fuel cell systems. Two different kinds of catalysts based on iron phthalocyanine and iron sulfate are prepared and characterized for the electrochemical oxygen reduction. Both types show catalytic activity depending on the conditions of preparation.
