Abstract

The Multiple Azimuth Beam (MAB) technique is a promising candidate for High Resolution Wide Swath (HRWS) SAR imaging. Conventional stripmap mode is not suitable for ultra-high resolution application because of the antenna size constraint. In this paper, a new HRWS system combining the Space-Time Waveform Encoding Single Phase Center Multiple Azimuth Beam (STWE-SPC-MAB) configuration with sliding spotlight mode is proposed. The proposed system, which inherits the advantages of the above two techniques, can find its value in ultra-high resolution HRWS imaging. The azimuth preprocessing algorithm is derived in detail, and the evaluation expressions of important system performance are given. Finally, the simulation analysis for an example HRWS spaceborne SAR verifies the effectiveness of the proposed system.
