Abstract

The theory of non-equilibrium thermodynamics was used to establish the theoretical model of a thermionic-thermoelectric hybrid power generation device. The expressions for the output power and efficiency of the hybrid device were derived. The performance characteristics of the hybrid device and its optimal performance were investigated. The optimally operating conditions of the hybrid device at the maximum output power and efficiency were determined. The optimally working regions of the hybrid device were given. The main performance parameters of the hybrid device were discussed in detail and consequently, some new significant conclusions were obtained. All the results obtained in this paper will provide some theoretical basis for the design and optimal operation of practical thermionic-thermoelectric generator hybrid device. The results obtained here will provide some theoretical guidance for further understanding the performance and operation of practical thermionic-thermoelectric generator hybrid device.
