Abstract

Objective To investigate the infection of Demodex among 148 students of a medical technology college to provide the reference for the prevention and treatment of demodicidosis.Methods Transparent adhesive tape method and questionnaires were performed:including the name,gender,household survey,facial skin condition and so on.The survey results were statistically analyzed by using SPSS12.0 andx2 test was used for comparisons between different groups.Results The total infection rate of Demodex of 148 students was 41.89%,and the infection rates of male and female students were 46.88% and 40.52%,and were 39.74% and 44.28% in urban and rural students,respectively,with no significant difference.The infection rates of Demodexfollioulorum and Demodex brevis were 29.73% and 5.41%,respectively with significant difference (x2=45.90,P<0.05).The mixed infection rate was 6.76%.The low-grade infection accounted for 90.32%.The infection rate for facial dermatosises and oily skin was higher.The infection rate on nasal is higher than that on other parts.Conclusions The infection of Demodex is common among the students and the Demodex follioulorum infection is dominating.The infection of Demodex has no significant difference in gender and between urban and rural.The nasal region is susceptible to infection.Keeping the face clean,and not to block up the hair follicle pore,can reduce the infection of Demodex.
