Abstract

In this paper, we consider the application of an in-plane auxiliary field into the exchange-coupled composite medium in the heat-assisted magnetic recording (HAMR) system. The dynamic micromagnetic simulations are conducted based on the Landau-Lifshitz-Bloch equations and the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) characterizations are performed. The effect on the SNR of the HAMR system is investigated. The improvement on the SNR with the auxiliary field in negative downtrack direction is identified.
