Abstract

In the presented work, the Photonic crystal fiber (PCF) sensor is designed and investigated for the sulfuric acid (H 2 SO 4 ) detection. By using Comsol Multiphysics, the optical properties like sensitivity(R s ), effective sensing area, Confinement loss(C L ) are analyzed. The PCF sensor is designed in the cladding area in which the air gaps are arranged as in the shape called hexagon, and the microporous air gaps are present in the inner core area. The air holes are in the circular shape of the cladding region were arranged in the form of the hexagon in three columns and the inner core region as rectangular shape air holes. To analyze the sensor performance, the concentration of H 2 S O 4 is inserted into the fiber separately and then investigate the optical property to attain high sensitivity with zero confinement loss. Moreover, a higher sensing area is achieved at a certain wavelength in the PCF sensor.
