Abstract

The uniaxial compression experiment was performed on semi-solid Be-50Al alloys, which was prepared with spherical beryllium powder and aluminum powder. Two characteristic stages of the deformation are identified. In the former stage, the stress decreases from the peak stress to a steady state stress. In the latter stage, the stress increases with different slopes. The ultimate stress improves from 1.5 MPa to70 MPa with the deformation amounts increase from 30% to 70%. The distribution of solid Be is the main factor of influencing the ultimate stress.
