Abstract

In this study, a back projection algorithm is used for target imaging in ground penetrating radar (GPR) detection. In this algorithm, the received echo signal is transmitted backward, projected into the imaging area, and compensated with different time delay, so that the energy of the echo signal in the target area is enhanced, and the energy of the echo signal in the non-target-area is reduced. Thus the target area can be distinguished from the whole imaging region, and the imaging of the target can be achieved. This algorithm is applied to the imaging of rectangular metal target, and the imaging results verify the effectiveness of the algorithm.
