Abstract
Studies were carried out to evaluate the effectiveness of Borg El-Arab soil samples for the concentration of fission products from liquid wastes. The sorption of caesium and strontium was investigated. With each isotope the exchange capacity, distribution coefficient and selectivity coefficient was determined. Also the effect of other factors such as pH, the concentration of chemically similar elements present in solution and heat treatment of the samples was studied.
