Abstract

Axial flow pump system is widely used in marine jet propulsion equipment and pump stations along the river coastal areas. In order to explore the safety and reliability of axial flow pump system, especially the axial-flow pump system in pump stations in coastal areas, in response to various extreme conditions. In this paper, a high-precision full-feature test bench for axial flow pump system is built, and the axial flow pump system model in a coastal area is manufactured. The axial flow pump system is experimentally tested under various extreme conditions. Then a numerical model for predicting the full characteristics of axial flow pump system is proposed, and the numerical results are compared with the experimental results. The full working condition hydrodynamic characteristics of axial flow pump system are revealed, including pump condition, turbine condition, braking condition and various extreme operating conditions. The research results provide reference for the safe and stable operation of axial flow pump system, especially coastal axial flow pump stations under various extreme conditions.
