Abstract

In order to improve the efficiency of convective wind energy harvesting device on highway, it is necessary to study the wake and flow field distribution generated during the vehicles running. Firstly, the models of the two main types of vehicles on the highway are simplified. Secondly, Star CCM + software is used to construct a simulation model of wind energy generation during highway vehicle driving, and the effectiveness of the simulation model is verified by experiments. By comparing the results, it is concluded that the wind energy generated by the truck is large, but the truck is less affected by the eddy current around body. It is concluded that the vehicle wake can be divided into three areas, and the wind energy formed is variable in direction and speed. It is concluded that under the action of natural wind, most of the wind energy can still be used by the convective wind energy harvesting device on the highway. In this study, the air flow distribution around the car body is still limited, and the room for further improvement is huge.
