Abstract

Higher education has an important role in shaping one's career and future. In this context, university entrance scores and choice of majors are considered as crucial factors that can affect the academic achievement of first-year students.This research needs to be conducted to see whether there is an influence between entrance scores and choice of major on the academic achievement of first-year students. Based on the data and results of the analysis, it shows that there is no positive relationship between high university entrance scores and the academic achievement of first-year students. In addition, students who choose majors according to their interests and abilities have no significant effect on their academic achievement.
