Abstract

The paper presents the results of a study of the spatial structure of turbulence in a submerged supersonic jet based on laser transillumination data. On the basis of experimental data, the validity of the power model for describing the spectra of air density fluctuations in flooded supersonic jets is confirmed. The dependences of the model parameters on the distances from the axis of the jet and on the nozzle cutoff for various values of the jet parameters at the initial, weakly turbulent part of the jet are constructed. The distribution of the response amplitudes at frequencies of discrete acoustic tones by the volume occupied by the jet is constructed.
