Abstract

Lasing was obtained in the blue-green spectral region (λ ~ 480 nm) due to the C-A transition in the XeF* molecule pumped by excimer radiation in the vacuum ultraviolet spectral region. The spectral and energy characteristics of the spontaneous and stimulated emission were investigated as functions of the buffer gas (argon and nitrogen) pressures. The possibility was investigated of constructing a laser emitting in the blue-green spectral region by pumping a Kr-XeF2 mixture with no separation between the excitation and lasing zones.
