Abstract

1. The spectropolarimetric method was used to investigate the structure of polymers produced on the basis of (−)-menthylmethacrylate under conditions of radical and anionic polymerization. 2. The applicability of the one-membered Drude equation within the interval 302–607 mμ was demonstrated, and the constants of the equations (A and λ0) were determined. 3. The independence of λ0 from the solvent and method of production of the polymers was demonstrated. The value of A increases in the series of polymers: radical, thermal, anionic. The negative values of the peaks increase in the same order. 4. The value of A varies depending on the stereoregularity of the polymer. The increase in A is related to an increse in the degree of crystallinity (x-ray diffraction study) and stereoregularity (IR spectra).
