Abstract

1. The carboxy group of amido acids that are formed in the acylation of amines with anhydrides is capable of dissociation in amide solvents with the formation of a free proton. The autocatalysis observed in the acylation of amines with anhydrides in amide solvents has specific acidic character. 2. A mechanism for the acylation of amines with carboxylic acid anhydrides in amide solvents is proposed.
