Abstract

A new expression able to unify the immunity levels extracted from reverberation chambers (RCs) and deterministic testing environments (DTEs) is derived based on the equivalence of the received power of the critical elements in the equipment under test (EUTs). The effectiveness of the expression is validated with two EUTs: a log-periodic antenna as a simple EUT and a computer host with a monopole inside as a complex EUT. The dependence of the immunity levels on the directivities for EUTs with the same failure probability in an RC is proved. We also show that for complex EUTs, the differences of the testing results obtained in RCs and DTEs using the presented expression are predictable and can be eliminated with the statistical properties of the directivities.
